Dr. Krishn M. Sharma received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the State University of New York at Binghamton. In 1996 he entered New York Medical College, where he was inducted into the national medical honor society Alpha Omega Alpha in his junior year. He was AOA president his senior year, and graduated in the top 5% of his class in 2000. Dr. Sharma entered his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, MD where he received additional training at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and The Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland. During his time spent in Maryland, Dr. Sharma participated in the care of the Baltimore Ravens football team as well as other scholastic and professional athletes. It was there he developed his interest in the surgical treatment of spinal disorders. After serving as chief resident in Orthopaedics, he was awarded a fellowship in Spinal Surgery at the Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City under the guidance of Dr. Michael G. Neuwirth. Dr. Sharma has experience treating pediatric, adolescent, and adult patients, including deformity, degenerative, traumatic, and oncologic disorders of the spine. His expertise allows him to perform state-of-the-art minimally invasive techniques and disc replacement surgery.
Dr. Sharma is published in the orthopaedic literature on multiple topics and has had work presented at several meetings including the International Meeting on Advanced Spine Technologies and the Scoliosis Research Society. In 2005 he was awarded the Roger H. Michael/Johnson & Johnson award for his research as an orthopaedic resident.
