Dr. John A. Bendo is a recognized leader within the field of spinal surgery. His clinical practice specializes in the surgical management and treatment of all spinal disorders. Treatment diagnoses range from simple degenerative lumbar (low back) and cervical (neck) disease such as herniated disc and spinal stenosis, to complex deformity cases including scoliosis, kyphosis, and spondylolisthesis.
Dr. Bendo’s practice emphasizes the importance of minimally-invasive spine surgery as well as the use of motion preservation technology in order to insure a patient’s quick and easy postoperative recovery. He is one of the first surgeons to perform “state of the art” total disc replacement in the cervical and lumbar spine in the metropolitan area. He is able to offer patients the latest, most technically advanced surgical technology through his involvement in multiple IDE research trials. The most recent being the “coflex device” produced by Paradigm Spine. This motion sparing device can serve as a nice alternative to low back fusion in a well defined patient population. Dr. Bendo’s prolific clinical practice is complemented by his commitment to spinal research. He has authored numerous articles and book chapters, while lecturing on the national as well as international circuit. He is an active member of several professional societies including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, North American Spine Society, Scoliosis Research Society, and the Spine Arthroplasty Society.
